Description:
The museum houses rich materials which reflects history of old and contemporary Georgian Theatre, Music, Cinema and Choreography (from antique theatre mask excavated in Vani, up to samples of the XX c. avant-garde). Among them are: samples of the XVII c. painting, Persian miniatures, German and French prints, works of XX c. artists – E.Akvlediani, I.Gamrekeli, I.Nikoladze, L.Gudiashvili, S.Virsaladze, P.Otskheli, D.Kakabadze, V.Sidamon-Eristavi, S.Kobuladze, L. Bakst, Alexander  Benua, Kirill Zdanevich, Fernand Leger, as well as works of G. Aleksi-Meskhishvili, I.Gegeshidze, N.Malazonia, M.Chavchavadze, Irakli Parjiani, Sergei Parajanov; Collection of personal letters, manuscripts, archives of well-known writers, public figures, artists: I.Chavchavadze, G.Eristavi, A.Tsereteli, V.Nemirovich-Danchenko, K.Stanislavski, Sumbatashvili-Yuzhin, Strauss, F.Shaliapin, K.Marjanishvili, SH.Dadiani, S.Akhmeteli, D.Arakishvili, etc. In the museum are stored also theatre costumes, memorial belongings, audio-video records, playbills, programmes, films, collections of theatre decorative art, etc. At the moment the museum is under the complete reconstruction and reorganization.
