  • Alexander Bandzeladze "Challenging the frames"

  • 25 July - 10 September
Georgian National Museum, D. Shevardnadze National Gallery

Exhibition Challenging The Frame celebrates the extraordinary life and work of Alexander   Bandzeladze (about 1926–1992), a seminal figure in the movement toward abstraction that transformed Georgian art. This exhibition, which includes about 40 works of art, surveys Bandzeladze’s entire career from the early 1950s until his death  in 1992. The retrospective includes paintings and drawings-some of which are being shown for the first time-and reveals Bandzeladze’s development as an artist and the evolution of his singular visual vocabulary and mature painting style.
