  • The exhibition is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Mary Karbelashvili (1927-2006), one of the remarkable Georgian art historians.
     
    Art historian Mary Karbelashvili studied development processes of modern Georgian art. Her scholarly legacy comprises generalizing works, monographs, albums and individual articles on the creative activity of prominent Georgian artists.
     
    The Exhibition unites works of those artists, whose creative activity was studied by Mary Karbelashvili, forming major part of her scholarly legacy. Works of easel painting and graphic art are also presented at the exhibition.
     
    Part of Mary Karbelashvili's publications is also specially included in the Exhibition.
     
    Her portrait painted by the artists Avto Varazi and Tsitsana Samunashvili is also exhibited for the first time.
     
    Major part of the exhibits is kept in the repositories of Sh. Amiranashvili State Museum of Art, another part - in the private collections of the artists, participants of the Exhibition, while some of the works belonged to M. Karbelashvili.
     
    Artists presented on the Exhibition are: Henryk Hryniewski (1869-1937), Joseph Charlemagne (1880-1957), Iakob Nikoladze (1876-1951), Nino Tsereleti (1902-1939), Nikoloz Kandelaki (1889-1970), Lado Gudiashvili (1896-1980), Elene Akhvlediani (1901-1975), Sergo Kobuladze (1909-1978), Davit Gabashvili (1914-1995), Levan Tsutskiridze (1929), Avto Varazi (1926-1977), Zurab Lezhava (1925-2010), Giorgi Ochiauri (1927), Loreta Shengelia-Abashidze (1942),Gogi Tsereteli (1944), Avtandil Monaselidze (1947).
     
    The Exhibition will last till December 12.
